I don't choose to forget, it just happens in the midst of the other million things I'm expected to remember on a daily basis.
While I was syncing my calendar at work the other day, I realized how much I depend on the reminder feature.
You know how it works...you control the settings of the reminders.
Whether you need 2 or 5.
Or if you need the little alarm to go off days before or hours.
Either way, you're reminded of that one thing you were bound to forget.
Spiritually, the same applies.
How many times have you caught yourself forgetting what God has promised as soon as opposition hits?
As soon as a door closes?
As soon as the answer is 'no'?
As soon as plan B and C fall through?
You see, forgetting God's promises is an enemy of hope.
It's purpose is to distract you from the truth that His timing is impeccable.
Forgetting makes room for doubt and welcomes anxiety, fear and disillusion.
Forgetting questions who you were created to be and whispers..."your late", "you're not good enough", "no one understands you".
What we need are reminders.
And those are found in His word.
Cover to cover we'll find the promises that have been spoken by the One who's never lied.
There's no need to reason or win our way into the fulfillment of His words.
They're guaranteed.
We just need to believe.
We just need the reminder.
Colossians 1:12 (MSG) says, "Thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful He has for us."
Not "had" or "could have".
He has.
It's in the plan.
It's been thought of.
It's been set apart.
So consider this your reminder.
And don't forget to thank Him.
